Privacy policy

EVgauge is built to keep your information on your phone. There are no accounts, no adverts and no tracking. This page explains the few cases where anything leaves your device.

What stays on your iPhone

• Readings from your car, such as battery level, power, voltage and temperature.
• Your trips: distance, energy used, cost and the times they started and ended.
• Your location. The app uses GPS to measure speed, distance and climb. It does not record where you went, and it never sends your location anywhere.
• Your settings, including your vehicles, dongles and electricity prices.
• Your car's VIN, read from the car to recognise its make and model year.

All of this is stored only in the app on your phone and is removed when you delete the app.

What is sent to us, and only when you choose

If you tap Send report or Send scan in the app, the following is sent to us:

• What you typed.
• Your car model, the type and name of your dongle, the app version and iOS version.
• The first three characters of the VIN (the maker code) and the model year. Never the full VIN.
• The readings on screen at the time, the results of any scan, and the recent connection log.

Reports do not include your name, your location or your trips. If you use the form on this website, we receive the email address, car and message you enter.

We use this only to fix problems and to add or improve support for cars. Reports and messages are deleted after 180 days. The connection's IP address is used for up to two hours to limit abuse, and is not kept with the report.

Who handles it

Reports and website messages are received and stored using Cloudflare, which also hosts this website. We do not sell or share your information with anyone else.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of anything we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Use the form on the support page. If you are unhappy with how we respond, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Who we are

EVgauge is published by the developer named as the seller on its App Store page. Contact us through the support page.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
